What do motorcycles, rock music, Jesus and the unemployed all have in common?  Broadway Christian Church, Kimmel, IN, can provide the answer.  The congregation hosted their third annual Bikers Sunday on August 16, 2009.  The event combines good food, great music and a bunch of bikers with Jesus all for a great cause.

Bwtween 16 to 20 motorcycles showed up for the event where the congregation provided the riders with a continental breakfast.

After breakfast, attendees were invited to participate in a special service that included pledges to both the American and Christian flags led by Brother Richard Adair.  Pastor John Smead welcomed all the bikers with special words of Scripture, some humor and real down home fellowship.  The Simon Peter Band entertained the crowd with some great Christian rock music.  Pastor Richard Resner closed the service with some special words and a closing prayer.

The purpose of Bikers Sunday was to raise funds for the Noble County Food Bank since unemployment is up in the area.  Terry Wilkinson, a representative of the Food Bank, was on hand to tell us all about their mission and all the families that they help feed.  The Food Bank was presented with $600.00 raised by the event as well as a lot of canned food donations.

After the service the crowd was treated by some more good food prepared by ladies of the church, door prizes were given out, and then everyone went on a great motorcycle ride together.

"Biker Sunday is a combined effort of church members, family, friends, and some motorcycle dealerships," notes Pastor Smead.  "Biker Sunday is not only a great fund raiser but also a great outreach program to tell others about Jesus."
