Times of Transition: Summer to School
"Mere change is not growth. Growth is the synthesis of change and continuity, and where there is no continuity there is no growth." - C.S. Lewis
Summer is coming to a close and we have had some great memories, good food, and much time to grow in our walks with Christ. Mfuge was a big turning point for many of the youth that went, and many mande new commitments in their spiritual journey. Just as C.S. Lewis says, in order to grow, we must not only change, but continually change. It is the process in which we grow, not in the mere change!
Gearing back up for school, we must remember this while we are preparing ourselves for the pressures that will return: peer pressure, schoolwork pressure, sports pressure. Those are the moments that define us! When we are in summer, at church camp, it is easy to be strong in our relationship with Christ. When we get back into our groups of friends that are not encouraging our faith, when we get back to our jobs where our stress levels rise, that is when we see how much we have grown spiritually throughout the summer.
I pray that each student has a great awakening of the growth that they have experienced personally.
