EA Churches touch communities
St. John's Church on Morgan Hill, Easton, PA sponsors the Angel Food Ministries program at it's church for the past two years to "help families keep food on their table." The church states there are no qualifications to use the program, "If you eat, you qualify." The ministry provides a much needed service to financially strapped families especially during this economic recession. In May, the church challenged every family in the congregation to reach out to a family member, friend or neighbor and offer to deliver an Angel Food Ministries package to them. Rev. Blake Heffner serves as the church's pastor. Learn more about the church online: www.stjohnsmorganhill.org

Last winter members of Bethel-St. Paul Church, Louisville, KY joined with another area church to clean up damage left by an ice storm that ravaged the area in February. Four teams were sent out to saw, cut, drag and haul any and all branches in their path. "One of Bethe-St. Paul's Ice Warrior teams met a woman whose husband was battling Alzheimer's. She shared with the team the challenges that she faced trying to care for her husband and also to take care of her home. After some words of encouragement, the team formed a prayer circle on her front lawn and prayed for her husband and for her." The church notes, "Without chain saws and rakes, this ministry of enouragement and prayer would never have taken place." Rev. Jeff Siems is the church's pastor. On Easter Sunday, members of Living Faith Christian Community, Spencerville, OH, took time out between Easter breakfast and the main 10:30 worship service for an outreach project. Members went to the local nursing home to share some Easter caroling with the facility's residents. They went through the halls singing favorite Easter hymns like "He Lives," "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today," "Because He Lives" and "Christ Arose," stopping to offer hugs and prayers along the way. A number of residents sang right along with the mission team. Staff members of the nursing home also thanked the group for bringing Easter joy to them as well on Easter Sunday morning. Two days before, the church sponsored a Good Friday service at the nursing home that featured a celebration of the Lord's Supper. The church is pastored by Rev. Ron Shifley. Members of Salem Church in Waynesboro, PA also engage in outreach to residents at their local nursing home. In June, the church will sponsor a short worship service and Bible study at Hearthstone Retirement Home each Sunday during the month. Yet, for members of Salem Church, community outreach does not stop at the edge of town. They consider their community to include the whole globe. The church is collecting care packages of food, personal hygene products and recreational items like cameras, playing cards, hand held video games, CD players and phone cards to be sent to our troops stationed in Iraq. The church ships out care packages twice a month. In addition the church encourages members to collect matchbox cars and stuffed toys that the soldiers can give to the Iraqi children they encounter. Rev. Lin Smalec serves as the church's pastor.
Finally, members of St. Paul Evangelical Church in Cibolo, TX helped sponsor an Easter party at SAMMinistry, the local youth shelter. The church also collects food for the town's food pantry and participates in an area blood drive. The church is pastored by Rev. Brett Becker.
