The forty days of Lent begin with Ash Wednesday.  This is a day that is set aside for prayer, fasting, and spiritual relfection.  Many EA congregations celebrate Ash Wednesday, but their observances are as unique as the congregations that make up the Evangelical Association.

Rev. Bryson "Gene" Bell, pastor of First Reformed Church, an EA congregation in Bluffton, IN, recently released a CD entitled, "A Tribute to Mount Zion."

Pastors writing pastoral articles on topics of faith and theology for public consumption are part of the Christian heritage going back to Martin Luther and beyond.  Through the years most local church pastors have published pastoral articles in their church's monthly newsletters.  In our contemporary digital age, many pastors now utilize internet technology to spread the Gospel message online via pastoral blogs. Pastors in the Evangelical Association are no exception.

The EA National Board of Directors are pleased to announce that the Rev. Jim Barnes, senior pastor at Bethesda Evangelical Church in St. Louis, Missouri, has been named the new National Minister of the Evangelical Association.

Getting ready for 2010?  Don't forget to order a copy of the Evangelical Association 2009-2010 Desk Calendar that was released at the EA's National Convocation in Louisville, KY.

What do motorcycles, rock music, Jesus and the unemployed all have in common?  Broadway Christian Church, Kimmel, IN, can provide the answer.  The congregation hosted their third annual Bikers Sunday on August 16, 2009.  The event combines good food, great music and a bunch of bikers with Jesus all for a great cause. 

Jesus commissioned the Church to be his witnesses "to the ends of the earth" (Acts 1:8).  The churches networked together in the Evangelical Association strive to have a global impact in various ways that bear witness to Christ's love all over the world.

Impacting the communities around us in Jesus' name is a major part of the mission for  EA churches across the country.  Churches of the Evangelical Association live out that gospel mandate in a variety of ways.

 

It started as a burden. Four years ago, I (Will Ogle, the youth director at St. John's Reformed Church in Sinking Spring, PA,) felt God placing a burden on my heart to create a place where I could meet with students on common ground. With so many students in the area not attending any church, the challenge was to create a place that they would come to, where they could be exposed to the love of Christ, without it seeming force-fed or unnatural.

The 2009 Spring edition of the Networker, the official newsletter of the Evangelical Association, is hot off the press and is available online for the first time here on the EA website.

The Mid-West Regional Gathering of the Evangelical Association was held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at St. John's Christian Church in Archbold, Ohio, with 84 in attendance.  Attendees came from Indiana, Michigan and Ohio. The theme of the event was "Arise! Gather. Grow. Glorify!" This gathering was both uplifting and encouraging to all. The workshops that were presented brought inspiration and encouragement, as well as challenge to the people whose churches were represented.

 

 

In an effort to work closer together, the EA pastors of the Indiana and northern Ohio area shared in a Lenten exchange between churches.
Participating in sports of all kinds helps build skill, teamwork, and character.  Churches within the Evangelical Association have found that it also builds Christian fellowship and unity within the Church of Jesus Christ.

 

Two of our sister EA churches are making the leap into cyberspace with new initiatives in Web Ministry.
Pastor Pete Sapp and his congregation, Trinity Reformed Church in Brady's Bend, PA are celebrating a couple of little miracles that have blessed the pastor and church family in a BIG way!
What happens when a struggling, new church start doesn't have enough funds to decorate its worship space for Advent and Christmas?  It gets blessed through the EA in a big, big way.

The Evangelical Association's annual Convocation in Landis, NC, was an extra special event as it celebrated 10 years of networking, relationships and Kingdom advancement.

The Evangelical Association is lending a helping hand in launching a new church start in Spencerville, OH called Living Faith Christian Community.
The first ever EA Midwest Regional Gathering was held at Cross Community Church in Berne, IN on June 7, 2008.
